Dr. Shahzad Akbar Khan has been appointed as Dean Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Poonch Rawalakot. He is serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Pathobiology.

Career in Veterinary Education & Dean Faculty of Veterinary
He started his career as a lecturer at Sindh Agricultural University, Tondojam. In 2007, he joined the University of Poonch Rawalakot.
Dr. Shahzad Akbar Khan was promoted to the post of Assistant Professor in the Pathobiology Department of the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Poonch University Rawalakot in 2017. Father, he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021 in Department of Pathobiology. Moreover, Dr. Shahzad Akbar Khan has served twice as Chairman/Head of the Department of Pathobiology. Besides this, he also served twice as Director ORIC at the University of Poonch Rawalakot during 2018-2023. Now he is service as as Dean Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.

Dr. Shahzad Akbar Khan has more than 20 years of teaching and research experience. He served in the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Muzaffarabad, Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan and the University of Poonch Rawalkot. Moreover, he also served at Chinese Academy of Sciences China. He has 18 years of academic/teaching experience. Moreover, he has also two years of experience in the private sector and NGOs. Education, Distinctions, and Awards of Dr. Shahzad Akbar
Dr. Shahzad Akbar Khan received the gold medal in DVM from Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam. In 2013 he received a scholarship from TWAS – CNPq to Brazil for PhD studies. In 2015, he completed his PhD in Pathology from the State University of Londrina, Brazil, in two years.
On the other hand, Dr. Shahzad Akbar Khan completed his two Post-Docs from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China in the years 2020 and 2024 respectively. He received a distinguished award from the President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Besides this, he also won the best presenter award in multidisciplinary science conferences from Sri Lanka and Egypt.
In recognition of his teaching and research services, Dr. Shahzad Akbar Khan was awarded Pride of Performance by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Moreover, he has also received the Man of the New Millennium, Millennium Gold Medal, and National Star Laureate awards.
Research Work and Grants – Dr. Shahzad Akbar
Dr. Shahzad Akbar Khan has published 80 research papers with 201 impact factors. On the other hand, he has expertise in TB vaccine development. He got a patent at NIH-USA in 2020 for BCG vaccine development in adults.
Dr. Shahzad Akbar has received many research grants from the National Natural Sciences Foundation of China, the Brazilian Council for Scientific and Technological Development, the Pakistan Science Foundation, Health Security Partners, and the Directorate of Advanced Studies and Research. Besides this, he received travel grants from many countries and presented his research in 8 different countries of the world.
Dr. Shahzad Akbar Khan is a member of the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council PVMC and a Life Member of the World Poultry Science Association. Further, Dr. Shahzad is a Life Member of the Pakistan Biological Safety Association, and a Member of the American Association for Science and Technology. Moreover, he is also a Member of the American Society for Microbiology, and a Life Member of the Pakistan Society for Microbiology.
