CM Gilgit Baltistan inaugurated Mobile Veterinary Units at Livestock Department Gilgit. Livestock production of Gilgit-Baltistan cannot be compared to any other. Due to its quality and nutritional value, it can be marketed at the best price. All possible steps will be taken for the export of halal meat in the international market. These views were expressed by Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid at a ceremony organized by the Livestock Department regarding the distribution of mobile veterinary units for the treatment of livestock. On this occasion, mobile veterinary units were distributed to ten districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Livestock Mehboob Ali Khan also attended the ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister emphasized that the Livestock Department should support the local people to enable access of halal meat from Gilgit-Baltistan to the international market. He said that slaughterhouses will be built in the province and a packing system will be established.

He added that most of the people in the rural areas of Gilgit-Baltistan depend on livestock. The first priority of our government is to improve the economic condition of the middle class. He said that the Livestock Department should pay special attention to the breeding and treatment of livestock. Treatment of livestock in rural areas can be made possible through mobile veterinary units.

He stressed that the provision of manpower along with ambulances should be ensured. He said that 25,000 employees were recruited in the last ten years, but no attention was paid to the creation of employee posts as per PC-4. The department should focus on the posts of technical staff.
According to the details, under this project, specially trained staff of the department will focus on those areas where the number of animals is high and veterinary dispensaries are not available. A schedule for visits to such areas will be approved. Veterinary staff will provide farmers with useful advice in the field as well as free diagnosis and treatment facilities. In case of any outbreak, veterinary ambulance will provide services for disease prevention along with special medicines.
