Seminar on Climate Smart Livestock Farming by Alltech Pakistan in KPK
Alltech Pakistan in collaboration with the Livestock Department (Extension) KPK organized a seminar on Climate Smart Farming. This Seminar on Climate Smart Livestock Farming was under KP Connect. Moreover, the purpose of the seminar was to introduce a model for climate smart farming in Livestock. Dr. Ijaz Yousaf, Regional Manager, Alltech Pakistan presented Alltech value creation models. This was consisting on technologies and tools backed by science.
Seminar focused on Climate Smart Livestock Farming. This is for better performance, profitability, and sustainability in livestock of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Furthermore, the event focused on raising awareness about the importance of climate-smart farming. Experts also heightened vulnerability to climate change, food security issues, and sustainability challenges.

Climate Smart Farming in Livestock
Dr. Shahzad Naveed Jadoon, Director/CEO, Alltech Pakistan gave a brief presentation on climate smart farming in livestock. He introduced potential strategies for local adoption while mitigating environmental impact by optimizing livestock performance.
Moreover, he discussed a three-tiered approach to climate smart farming. This includes estimations, mitigation through nutrition, and carbon credit financing. Furthermore, He emphasized that we need to connect our competencies. Moreover, we should collaborate to create a positive impact on KP livestock. Dr. Jadoon also proposed collaborative actions. These include Dairy School, Dairy Value Creation Model, and KP Connect. This collaboration will focus on capacity-building training and awareness of farmers.
Climate Smart Farming in Livestock and Government
Dr. Asal Khan, DG Livestock Extension KPK, spoke at the occasion. He highlighted the necessity of demonstrating best practices and economic value to farmers. He said that we should sensitize the farmers about climate smart farming interventions. Moreover, we should also highlight their benefits in elevating farm performance, profitability, and sustainability. He said Alltech Pakistan’s climate smart farming interventions will be integrated into livestock planning. Furthermore, Dr Khan expressed his appreciation for this initiative. He also indicated encouraging more seminars on awareness regarding climate smart livestock farming practices.
Climate Smart Farming in Livestock and Farmers Education
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Deputy Director, stressed the importance of educating farmers. We should educate farmers on innovative technologies and sustainable practices. This will ensure resource efficiency and farm profitability. Besides this, he warned of potentially catastrophic outcomes if current practices continue in the face of climate change.
Climate Smart Livestock Farming and Research
Dr. Fawad Ahmad provided insights into the KP Livestock Sector Outlook and Emerging Trends. On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Murad Ali Khan, Principal of Veterinary Institute Peshawar proposed interventions at grassroots level. He also proposed to focus on Community-based farming facilities. Moreover, he also focused on awareness about highly digestible fodders and their seed availability in the province. He emphasized that local research for methane minimization must also be focused.
