Chairman GCLI called on Secretary Fisheries Punjab
Chairman GCli – Green Corporate Livestock Initiative Major General (R) Shahid Mahmood held a special meeting with Secretary Fisheries Punjab Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal, In the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the development of the fisheries sector in Punjab province, promotion of modern shrimp farming and the possibilities of sustainable development with the involvement of the private sector.
During the meeting, Chairman GCLI emphasized on promoting the involvement of the private sector in the fisheries sector, especially shrimp farming. He said that fisheries can be made a profitable and export-oriented sector through modern technology, investment and public-private partnership. He also highlighted that the fisheries sector can play an important role in strengthening the rural economy and creating employment opportunities.
Aquaculture and Fisheries Sector in Pakistan, Challenges and Recommendations
Secretary Fisheries Punjab Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal briefed Chairman GCLI on the ongoing initiatives related to shrimp farming and other fisheries projects. He said that the Punjab government is paying special attention to modern farming models, research and infrastructure improvement in the fisheries sector so that along with meeting the domestic needs, exports can also be increased.
On this occasion, the Secretary Fisheries Punjab assured of collaboration and full cooperation with GCLI for the development of the fisheries sector. The parties agreed that with mutual cooperation between the public and private sectors, modern trends can be introduced in the fisheries sector, which will benefit both farmers and investors.
At the end of the meeting, a commitment was expressed to continue joint initiatives, planning and close contacts in the fisheries sector in the future.
