Chaimran GCLI called on Minister for Livestock Punjab
Chairman GCLI – Green Corporate Livestock Initiative Major General (R) Shahid Mahmood called on Provincial Minister for Livestock Punjab Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani. In the meeting, various aspects related to the development of the livestock sector on modern lines and the prosperity of farmers were discussed in detail.
During the meeting, comprehensive discussions were held on modern livestock breeding technologies, access of sexed semen to common farmers, improvement of the genetic potential of animals, measures to increase milk and meat production and genetic improvement programs as per international standards. It was agreed in the meeting that the widespread availability of sexed semen technology will not only bring about a revolutionary change in dairy farming but will also enable a significant increase in the income of farmers. The provision of sexed semen for beef breeds will create new opportunities for meat production and export.
On this occasion, the importance of livestock data collection, digital record keeping and traceability system for animals was emphasized. It was said that these measures will play a key role in controlling various diseases, assessing productivity, and policy making.

Provincial Minister for Livestock Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani appreciated the efforts of GCLI and said that the Punjab government is taking serious steps to align the livestock sector with modern requirements. Other measures, including the livestock card have been taken for the prosperity of farmers. The supply of semen has also started under herd transformation, while sexed semen will also be provided on subsidy in collaboration with GCLI.
It was agreed in the meeting that measures such as genetic improvement of livestock, data management and traceability will not only strengthen the livestock sector at the national level but will also be helpful in promoting exports and accessing international markets.
