Chairman GCLI called on with CEO LDDB
Chairman Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (GCLI) Major Gen (R) Shahid Mahmood called on Chief Executive Officer Livestock and Dairy Development Board (LDDB) Dr. Shahid Amin. During the Chairman GCLI meeting with CEO LDDB, various areas of mutual cooperation for the livestock development, promotion of modern technology and awareness of livestock farmers were discussed in detail.
Director Livestock GCLI Col (R) Abdul Rehman Qureshi, Dr. Qurban Ali, Company Secretary LDDB Jarrar Hussain, Dr. Zahid Al-Quddus Bhutta, Dr. Asma Batool and other officials of the Livestock Board were present. President All Pakistan Jamiat Al-Quresh Meat Welfare Association Khurshid Qureshi also joined.
GCLI and LDDB Mutual Cooperation
In this Chairman GCLI meeting with CEO LDDB, a proposal to start pilot projects of herd transformation in different districts in collaboration with the Livestock Board and GCLI was considered. Both the organizations agreed that livestock production can be increased through modern breeding, improved genetics and modern farming methods.
Chairman GCLI meeting with CEO LDDB also discussed the launch of the Grassroots Incentivized Dairy Development Project (GRIDD) of GCLI in Islamabad in collaboration with the Livestock and Dairy Development Board for awareness and training of livestock farmers. In addition, issues related to vaccination for the prevention of animal diseases, especially foot-and-mouth disease, and establishing a modern slaughterhouse Islamabad, were also discussed.
Activities of LDDB and GCLI
Chief Executive Officer LDDB Dr. Shahid Amin informed about the projects, activities of the Livestock and Dairy Development Board and the steps taken for the welfare of farmers on this occasion. He said that the board has worked on development projects worth billions of rupees across Pakistan. He said that Pakistan’s livestock sector can be further strengthened through modern technology and effective policies.
Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (GCLI)
During the meeting, Chairman Green Corporate Livestock Initiative Major General (R) Shahid Mahmood discussed GCLI’s state-of-the-art gender sorting lab. He said that GCLI has imported high-quality bulls from the US, Brazil and other countries, whose gender-sorted straws are being supplied. Along with this, with the efforts of Green Corporate Livestock Initiative, a modern plant is being set up in Pakistan in collaboration with a Chinese company for the production of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine.
At the end of the meeting, both institutions agreed to further strengthen mutual cooperation and work together on joint projects for the sustainable development of the livestock sector, promotion of modern technology and prosperity of farmers.
