The Buffalo Breeders Association Punjab Pakistan (BBAPP) is the association of Nili Ravi buffalo breeders of Punjab. The association focuses on the promotion of buffalo breeding, and buffalo farming and unites the buffalo breeders at the platform. It organizes buffalo milk competitions, buffalo beauty competitions, and buffalo fairs to highlight the potential of buffalo of Punjab at national and international. It also collaborates with different organizations to organize seminars and conferences. Moreover, it celebrates World Buffalo Day. Overall, it is working for the conservation and improvement of black gold of Pakistan.

Objectives of Buffalo Breeders Association

Buffalo Breeders Association Punjab Pakistan (BBAPP) works for the promotion and protection of buffalo breeds by encouraging and supporting buffalo breeders and buffalo farmers

  • Education and Research: Promotion of education, research, and extension activities in Nili-Ravi buffalo breeding. Elevation of breeding standards and production of Nili Ravi Breed.
  • Collaboration: Collaboration among breeders and institutions for Nili-Ravi buffalo breeding program.
  • Policy Monitoring: Monitoring of national and provincial policies and Government activities related to buffalo breeding, artificial insemination, and other services ensuring breeds and breeders interests are safeguarded.

  • Establishing Standards: Improvement of genetic traits and maintenance of breed purity through initiatives like performance recording and the creation of a “Nili-Ravi Buffalo Herd Book,” in collaboration with Buffalo Research Institute.
  • Breeder Welfare: Efforts for the socio-economic well-being of breeders and their genuine interests.
  • Fairs and Competitions: Arrangements of milk competitions and breed fairs (Melas) to encourage and appreciate the breeders
  • Knowledge Sharing: Training workshops, seminars and conferences in collaboration with government and private organizations.
  • National Gold Club: Establishment of the “National Black Gold Club” to identify elite buffalo with high milk yields, and promote their superior traits within the breeding community.
  • Breed Characterization: Development and “Type Summaries” for breed characteristics of (Nili-Ravi) Buffalo through a “linear scouring system” with the collaboration of Buffalo Research Institute, Pattoki.

  • Collaborates with research instaurations to promote research on buffalo breeding
  • Encourages farmers and breeders to support breeding initiatives and development activities of Livestock Department
  • Develop linkages among the breeders and researchers for on-farm research activities
  • Participates and collaborates for the arrangement of Seminars, Workshop, and Conferences
  • Represents Pakistan at an international forum to promote the black gold of Pakistan
  • Celebrates World Buffalo Day on 02 March

 

How to get Membership

Any farmer having a minimum 10 animals for breeding can become a member of the Buffalo Breeding Association. Every member will have to follow the rules and regulations of the association. For Registration, farmers may contact the Association and Buffalo Research Institute Pattoki.
