Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Skrand organized the first International Symposium on Animal Welfare and One Health in collaboration with Sindh Higher Education Commission.
Provincial Minister Sindh Universities and Board Muhammad Ismail Rahu, Chairman Public Accounts Committee Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Dr. Jon Kankoro, Vice Chancellor Sindh Agricultural University Tando Jam Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri, Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Abupoto, Vice Chancellor Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro Prof. Dr. Ikramuddin Ajan, Member Provincial Assembly Mumtaz Ali Chandio and others participated.
The participants appreciated the organization of the symposium on the most important topic and praised the efforts of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Veterinary University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Hassan and his team.
Dignitaries at Symposium on Animal Welfare and One Health
Provincial Minister Ismail Rahu said on the occasion that this is indeed a timely symposium that covers the most important topics. He said that this event will definitely prove fruitful for the university as well as the community.
In the symposium, Professor Graeme B. Martin, Professor Margaret Reman (member of the Nobel Prize-winning group), Professor Cleo Phillips, Professor Craig Johnson, Professor Vera Bowmans, Professor Jesus, Professor Umberto, Professor Indrajit, Professor Abdullah G. Arejo, Professor Naeem Tariq Narejo, Professor Zhen Wu, Professor Zhao Jiaji, Dr. Nazir Hussain Kalhoro, Professor Nasreen M. Hashim and Dr. Jamil Ahmed Gandhi, along with other national and foreign experts, discussed various topics.
Technical Discussion on Animal Welfare and One Health
Molecular biology of viruses, pain, temperature stress, laboratory practice, prevention of diseases transmitted from animals to humans, various methods of disease control and treatment, and other topics related to animal welfare were part of the symposium.
Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation Professor Shahid Mahmood Baig and President ECO Science Foundation Professor Manzoor Hussain Soomro also spoke.
They said that this international symposium is a great achievement for the developing university and its leadership.
Technical Chair of the symposium and Professor Graeme B. Martin of the University of Western Australia said that very important topics have been combined for the symposium. He said that this should not be the first symposium on the topics of animal welfare and One Health, but its series should continue in the future.
Professor Graeme B. Martin congratulated the Government of Sindh, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and the Chairman of the symposium, Professor Dr. Zahid Iqbal Rajput and the organizers for organizing the successful symposium.

Martin, also appreciated the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Farooq Hassan and the efforts of Dr. Hidayatullah Soomro (Symposium Secretary), Dr. Izhar Haider Qazi (Editor-in-Chief Proceedings), Dr. Ali Mujtaba Shah (Editor Proceedings), Dr. Christiana Angel (Maria) and other members of the Organizing Committee. He said that this symposium is an excellent platform for academia, researchers and students and has taken a developing university to the international level.
