Animal Nutrition Research Facility to be established at the University of Karachi by Sindh Feed and Allied Products

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Department of Physiology, University of Karachi and Sindh Feed and Allied Products. Under this MOU, an Animal Nutrition Research Facility will be established at the university. A mini feed mill facility will be established for the university’s poultry science program. Its aim is to provide opportunities for practical training, research and advanced feed formulation and processing to poultry science students.

A ceremony was held at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat, University of Karachi, where Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi and General Manager of Sindh Feed and Allied Products, Rizwanullah Lodhi, signed the agreement.

 

Sheikh Muhammad Anwar Animal Nutrition Research Facility

Under the agreement, Sindh Feed and Allied Products, with the support of the Department of Physiology, will also assist in management of the Sheikh Muhammad Anwar Animal Nutrition Research Facility. This facility will play a significant role in promoting research, training of students and teachers and scientific development in the field of animal, dairy and poultry nutrition in Pakistan.

According to the MoU, both institutions will take joint initiatives to promote locally produced feed formulations, alternative raw material analysis, and innovative feed research. Along with this, Sindh Feed will provide training and internships to students and facilitate the exchange of technical expertise.

 

Ceremony to Sign MOU

On this occasion, University of Karachi Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi said that there are only a few departments of the university that have effectively promoted industry-university relations, and the Department of Physiology is prominent among them. He said that practical training is very important for students, and such initiatives will definitely open new avenues for them.

General Manager Sindh Feed Rizwanullah Lodhi said that the company will also share knowledge and experience with the department regarding poultry vaccines. He added that the company will also hand over a pilot machine to the Department of Physiology, which will play a key role in the establishment and operation of the mini feed mill facility. He said that we want to transfer our expertise and experience to the younger generation because in the future they have to lead this industry.

Professor Dr. Taseer Ahmed Khan said that when the Department of Physiology was working on the launch of the Poultry Science degree program, consultation and cooperation with Sindh Feed and other poultry institutions were ongoing during the preparation of the curriculum.
