WPSA Library & Poultry Science Club inaugurated at UAF
University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Tanveer has said that the poultry industry is playing a key role in meeting the protein needs of the growing population as well as in eliminating malnutrition in the country. He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the establishment of the Poultry Science Club and WPSA Library, World Poultry Science Association Library in the Faculty of Animal Sciences. Dean Faculty of Animal Sciences Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Mirza, Director Institute of Animal and Dairy Sciences Prof. Dr. Qamar Bilal, Dr. Khalid Mahmood Shawq, Vice President World Poultry Science Association Dr. Nasir Mukhtar, Dr.
Kashif Saleemi and others were also present on the occasion. Professor Dr. Asif Tanveer said that the poultry sector has made significant progress over the past few decades, which is why it has become the second largest industry in Pakistan after world textiles and is providing employment to millions of people. He said that consuming at least one egg daily can significantly increase our mental and physical performance.
Appreciating Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for poverty alleviation at the rural level, he said that poultry is an alternative source of livelihood for the villagers and the rural poultry package will bring about changes.
Dean, Faculty of Animal Sciences, Professor Dr.
Aslam Mirza said that the consumption of eggs can increase the interconnectedness of human performance. At the same time, it also increases the ability to fight diseases, so we should further promote the consumption of poultry meat and eggs. He said that the university has a workforce in the form of youth through which there can be no obstacle in the development of the poultry industry. He said that problems can be identified and practical solutions can be suggested in the light of rural development.
Professor Dr. Qamar Bilal, Director, Institute of Animal and Dairy Sciences, said that poultry helps us ensure a balanced diet. They will try to hand over such individual strengths to the market in the areas of this active library that can prove helpful and supportive in the upliftment of the industry.
He clarified that the establishment of the World Poultry Science Association Library and Poultry Club will provide young students with a dynamic value-added form through which they will have more ease in connecting with the industry.
