What are Stray Animals?

Stray animals are domesticated animals, primarily dogs and cats, that have lost their homes and often live on the streets or in the wild. They may have been abandoned by owners or born into harsh conditions. Without human care, they struggle to survive, often facing malnutrition, injuries, and harsh weather conditions. Unlike wild animals, stray dogs and cats depend on human intervention for their well-being.

The transition from a domesticated pet to a feral animal can be distressing for these creatures. Many once enjoyed stable home environments filled with food, companionship, and medical care. However, once they find themselves on the streets, they quickly face bad situations. The primary challenges these stray dogs and cats encounter include lack of food, inadequate shelter, exposure to harsh weather conditions, and the absence of veterinary care. Additionally, they often have to contend with dangers from traffic, conflicts with other animals, and the risk of disease, amplifying their need for urgent intervention.
