History of World Milk Day links to FAO. This Day was established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The day highlights the importance of milk as a global food and celebrates the dairy sector. The International Dairy Federation (IDF) organized the first World Milk Festival in 1971. The aim was to raise awareness of the vitality of milk. Later, In 1984, the Food and Agriculture Organization declared milk essential. After that FAO declaration, many countries started celebrating this Day on national levels globally. In 2001, FAO designated World Milk Day officially.
