Training Workshop on Animal Disease Diagnosis and Reporting at Livestock Department Punjab

A two-day training workshop on Animal Disease Diagnosis and Reporting was organized by the Directorate of Animal Disease Diagnostics, Reporting and Surveillance of the Livestock Department Punjab. The workshop was organized to further improve the field performance of the officers, and improve the quality of accurate diagnosis and reporting of diseases. Secretary Livestock Ahmed Aziz Tarar attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest.

On this occasion, Secretary Livestock Ahmed Aziz Tarar said that this type of training not only enhances the technical skills of the officers but also makes their knowledge and experience compatible with modern requirements. He appreciated the efforts of the Director General Research and Director ADRS. The Secretary Livestock directed that such training workshops should be continued in future as well so that the officers of the department are fully aware of the latest research, technology and professional skills.

The workshop was attended by 27 participants including Disease Investigation Officers (DIOs) and Assistant Disease Investigation Officers (ADIOs) of Faisalabad, Sargodha, DG Khan, Rawalpindi and Multan divisions as well as officers from four poultry laboratories, Buffalo Research Institute Pattoki and Livestock Production Research Institute Bahadur Nagar.

In the workshop, the Director General Research, Director ADDRS (Directorate of Animal Disease Diagnostics, Reporting and Surveillance)  and other experts provided detailed awareness to the participants about laboratory protocols, methods of diagnostic tests used in the field and their efficacy, among other topics.

Activities and Future

On this occasion, it was informed that this workshop consisted of training for the second group of Module-I, under which all DIOs, ADIOs and a total of 47 laboratory in-charges have been trained so far. In the next two modules, all Lab Veterinary Officers (Lab VOs) and Lab Assistants will be trained.

It was further informed that these training programs have been organized in a professional and need-based manner, with the aim of enhancing the technical capabilities of field officers and making the reporting system more effective. Teamwork skills among officers were also enhanced during the training workshop. At the end of the closing ceremony of the two-day workshop, the Secretary Livestock also distributed certificates among the participants who completed the training.
