Special Animals and Veterinary Emergency Relief Society (SAVERS) organized a veterinary symposium at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. The symposium highlighted various aspects related to the participation of people from different classes in the veterinary sector, their equality and their full and active involvement in this sector.
From the dairy sector, Dr. Muhammad Zafarullah Khan, Managing Director, Al-Shafi Animal Health and Director Research and Development, ARASS, from the equine sector, Dr. Sabra Nazir, Veterinary Riding Department, Aitchison College, from the livestock sector, Dr. Ziaullah Mughal, from the livestock sector, Dr. Asim Rasool, General Manager, CP Feeds, from the poultry sector, Dr. M. Rizwan Khan, Safari Zoo, from the wildlife sector, and Dr. Hafiz Asad, Commercial Country Specialist, Cargill Animal Nutrition and Health, from the marketing department, Dr. Ayesha Aftab, Director Business Development, A&S Animal Health, and Dr. Rehan Ashraf, from Alltech Pakistan, among other experts. He highlighted the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in the veterinary profession.
Experts said that the inclusion of people from different walks of life in the veterinary profession helps in increasing business opportunities as well as meeting the needs of the growing population. Diversity in the veterinary profession improves access to veterinary services in all communities.
The event was specially attended by Professor Dr. Kamran Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. He appreciated the organization of the event.
