With the special efforts of Dr. Fariha Talha, WPSA Women Wing celebrated World Egg Day with the women of the village of Hyderabad. Experts educated the Women about the nutritional value of eggs in their local language. Besides this, they also highlighted the usefulness of eggs for women and especially for mother health. Furthermore, they also discussed the importance of World Egg Day.
General Secretary of WPSA Women Wing South, Dr. Sumaira organized various activities for women. Students of Veterinary Faculty of Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam supported her. Women actively participated in the activity of sheet work and egg embroidery. Their work reflected the Sindhi culture. In addition to this, women also prepared various egg dishes. Association presented gifts and prizes to the women. They also distributed eggs on the occasion.
Usefulness of Eggs for Women
Dr. Fariha Talha said that women and especially mothers are facing nutritional problems in Pakistan. These problems are more common among rural women of Sindh. Therefore, it is important to inform women about affordable and quality food. Furthermore, she said that egg is a food package which contains proteins and vitamins in addition to other nutrients. She cleared that eggs do not cause heart diseases. On the other hand, rural women already have the tendency to keep the poultry birds, which makes it relatively easy for them to get eggs.
