Govt to set up Task Force to prevent milk adulteration | دودھ کی ملاوٹ، ٹاسک فورس کے قیام کا فیصلہ . The Punjab government has decided to form a task force comprising relevant departments to prevent milk adulteration. Lahore will be made an adulteration-free model district in the next 3 years.
These decisions were taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Caretaker Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Ibrahim Hassan Murad. Secretary Livestock Punjab Masood Anwar and Director General Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Raja Jahangir Anwar also attended the meeting.

The proposed task force will examine the source of supply of milk sold by milk vendors and whether the milk complies with hygiene standards. Caretaker Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Ibrahim Hassan Murad directed that the task force should include representatives from the district administration, police, Livestock, Food Authority, veterinary experts and other relevant departments. He expressed regret that some unscrupulous elements are involved in the heinous business of making unhealthy milk.

Such elements will be eliminated. Caretaker Minister for Livestock Ibrahim Murad said that after the success of the Lahore model, a systematic campaign against adulterated milk will be spread across Punjab. He directed that awareness should be raised among the citizens about adulterated milk.
It was decided in the meeting that testing strips will be prepared with the help of experts to test the quality of milk at the household level. In this way, women will be able to test milk on the spot and refuse to take milk in case of substandard.
Director General PFA Raja Jahangir Anwar offered that the Food Authority is ready to provide access to its data to the Livestock Department to achieve the desired goals. He said that most of the adulterated milk is sold in cities only. This anti-social business can be eliminated with the facility of testing at the household level.
The Minister for Logistics directed that the Logistics Department and the Punjab Food Authority submit further progress reports after 2 days.
