Executive Committee Meeting of SPCA Punjab held at UVAS
Secretary Livestock Punjab Saqib Ali Ateel chaired a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals – SPCA Punjab. The meeting was held at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. The meeting discussed measures to promote animal welfare and prevent cruelty to animals.
Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Usman Tahir, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof. Dr. Anila Zameer Durrani and other important officials attended the meeting.
The participants reiterated their possible cooperation in enhancing welfare of animals in the meeting. On this occasion, Secretary Livestock Saqib Ali Ateel said that the society should play its role in the implementation of the Dog Birth Control Policy. He further said that all stakeholders should keep giving their opinions on the affairs of SPCA from time to time so that the implementation of the laws on welfare of animals can lead to the creation of an animal-friendly society. He said that the department is playing an effective role in animal welfare through various laws and policy making.
On this occasion, Additional Secretary Dr. Usman Tahir said that facilities like double shift in veterinary hospitals, pet clinics,and TNVR program are playing a positive role in animal welfare. The participants of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals meeting gave suggestions and opinions on the Animal Welfare Act, Dog Birth Control Policy, and Punjab Animal Health Rules.
