Demand to ban smuggling of animals to Afghanistan and Smuggling of Animals to Iran form Pakistan.
All Pakistan Meat Exporters Association demands ban on smuggling of animals to Afghanistan and Smuggling of Animals to Iran form Pakistan.
The federal government should play a role in stopping the alleged smuggling of live animals from the borders adjacent to Iran and Afghanistan. These views were expressed by President All Pakistan Meat Exporters Association Mian Abdul Manan and Secretary General All Pakistan Meat Exporters Association Hassan Raza in a joint statement.
He further said that thousands of live animals are allegedly smuggled from the borders adjacent to Iran and Afghanistan on a daily basis and sent abroad, which is harming the meat export sector in Pakistan.
He said that the meat export sector is a source of bringing in millions of dollars of foreign exchange every year and this sector provides employment to millions of people. He said that due to the government’s inadequate arrangements at the Iran-Afghanistan border, thousands of live animals are smuggled from Pakistan to Iran and Afghanistan on a daily basis, which is causing losses to businessmen associated with meat export, while the country is also facing a decrease in the inflow of foreign exchange.
He demanded that the government and relevant agencies take strict and effective measures to stop the smuggling of live animals at the said borders so that Pakistan’s meat exports can be further promoted and the country’s foreign exchange can be increased.
