Retirement of DG Livestock Extension Punjab – Dr. Iqbal Shahid

Livestock Department Punjab organized a farewell Ceremony on the retirement of DG Livestock Punjab (Extension) Dr. Iqbal Shahid. Officers presented bouquets. Additional Director Lahore and his team also presented flowers to Director General Livestock.

Dr. Iqbal Shahid joined the Livestock Department as a Veterinary Officer in 1988. In his 36-year career, he performed his duties in various important positions across Punjab. During his service, Dr. served as Section Officer and Planning Officer. Besides the he also served as Deputy Technical Secretary. Moreover, he served as Additional Technical Secretary for six years. He has retired from the post of DG Livestock Punjab – Director General Livestock Punjab Extension.

Dr. Shahid Iqbal took many steps for the development of breed improvement, disease diagnostics and poultry sector. Further, he played role in the projects like Disease Control Compartment and Pakistan Animal Identification and Traceability System. Dr. Iqbal Shahid also has the honor of serving as the first “Chief Veterinary Officer” of Punjab.

In recognition of his services, he was also awarded the Pakistan China Friendship Award.

Dr. Iqbal played his role in framing important laws like Punjab Animal Health Act and Dog Policy. The He also worked for the approval of Veterinary Healthcare Commission Act and one year house job for DVM students.

Dr. Iqbal Shahid also served as a member of Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council for six years.
