Animal Disease Reporting Instructions, Chief Vet to be informed first before publishing or reporting a new or emerging disease.
The Livestock Wing of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research has issued a special guideline for veterinary professionals and researchers across Pakistan. According to the notification issued by the Animal Husbandry Commissioner Pakistan, in case of the emergence of any new disease or epidemic in animals at any place, any veterinary professional or researcher will have to inform the Animal Husbandry Commissioner before publishing or reporting anywhere. In this regard, the Provincial Livestock Department, Provincial Wildlife Department, Veterinary Educational Institutions, Veterinary Research Institutions and other related institutions have been informed.
According to sources, some such incidents have come to light where some disease in animals is advertised on social media, similarly, there are reports of such information being given to the media, while such a situation has also come to light in research papers. On the other hand, when international organizations contact the Animal Husbandry Commissioner for verification in this regard, the concerned authorities face problems and Pakistan has to bear the brunt at the global level. In this context, the Animal Husbandry Commissioner has issued guidelines for veterinary professionals and researchers across Pakistan.
