Farmers provide pure milk, the adulteration issue is at retail level, says President DCFA
The Central President of Dairy andCattle Farmers Association (DCFA) Shakir Umar Gujjar has expressed strong reaction to the recent statements of the Commissioner Karachi, terming them as contrary to reality. He strongly condemned the baseless allegations made by the administration against dairy farmers to prevent the legitimate increase in milk prices. DCFA Says, farmers provide pure milk, the issue of adulteration is at retail level which should be controlled by the administration.
Shakir Umar Gujjar said that on the occasion of the previous notification, the Commissioner Karachi had used similar tactics, on which the Sindh Food Authority took 25 samples from the dairy farms of Bhins Colony. According to the laboratory report, all 25 samples were found to be of high quality and cleared. This is proof that the farmer is producing pure milk, while the complaints of adulteration are the failure of the administration at the retail level.

It should be noted that the Commissioner Karachi had directed the Deputy Commissioner to check the quality of milk in collaboration with the Food Authority and take action against the sale of adulterated milk.

Shakir Umar Gujjar says that when the Sindh government has established an active institution like Sindh Food Authority which checks the quality 365 days a year, then the establishment of parallel “pickets” by the Commissioner Karachi at the time of notification is only an attempt to harass and blackmail the farmers.
Shakir Umar Gujjar further says that after the increase of Rs 55 in petroleum products, the cost of production has reached Rs 320. Does the government set up such pickets to check the quality while increasing the price of petrol or electricity?

He said that stopping milk prices under the guise of “quality” should be stopped. If the farmer does not get the reward for his hard work, he will be forced to take the most severe path of stopping the supply of milk and protesting, for which the entire responsibility will lie with the administration.
