Punjab Cabinet passed Punjab Animal Health Bill 2019
The Punjab Animal Health Act 2019 will help in the prevention and control of animal diseases. This was said by Provincial Minister for Livestock Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dareshak on the memorable occasion of the approval of the Punjab Animal Health Act.
Importance of Punjab Animal Health Bill 2019
Explaining the usefulness of the act on this occasion, he said that with the help of this act, it will help in establishing animal disease-free areas and making the trade and export of animals as per international standards. With the help of this act, it will not only help in ridding the society of diseased animals but also the people will be able to get healthy animal proteins in sufficient quantity.
Disease Free Zones and Punjab Animal Health Bill 2019
The Minister for Livestock said that healthy and disease-free animals are the reason for a healthy and energetic society. With the help of this law, the process of establishing disease-free zones and compartments will get legal status. It should be remembered that work on this law has been going on for a long time.
NOC had already been obtained from the Strategic Division of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard. China and India have enacted legislation in this regard in 2008 and 2009 respectively. The evaluation mission report released in 2014 stated that the Animal Act would also be helpful in controlling foot-and-mouth disease and establishing disease-free zones in Pakistan.
Efforts of Provinical Minister
Later, in November 2018, the Prime Minister of Pakistan visited China. On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the two countries, which stated that for the prevention of diseases and the export of animals, there is a need for legislation and implementation of this law regarding animal health. With the special efforts of Provincial Minister for Livestock Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dareshak, the Punjab Animal Health Act has been passed.
