Prof. Dr. Faqir Muhammad has assumed the charge of Dean FVS BZU

Prof Faqir Muhammad has been appointed Dean FVS BZU Multan – Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan. Earlier, he was serving as Chairman, the Department of Biosciences at this Faculty.

Prof. Faqir Muhammad received his Doctorate Degree from North Carolina State University, USA in 2004 in Pharmacology. He obtained MSc Hons Veterinary Pharmacology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees with first position in 1997 and 1995 respectively. Moreover, he won the Quaid-e-Azam Merit Scholarship to pursue doctoral studies in the USA. Furthermore, in the annual meeting of the Society of Toxicology, in 2003, he got the shield and cash prize in recognition of the best research.

Prof. Faqir Muhammad also got the Star Laureate Award (2005), the Millennium Lifetime Award (2008), and the Research Productivity Award (2012).

Research and Publications

Prof. Faqir Muhammad has extensive teaching and research experience of 25 years in various universities. Moreover, he has two years of teaching and research experience as a Research Assistant Professor at Kansas State University, USA. He has had several books and chapters published by renowned international publishers including Springer, Taylor & Francis, and Elsevier. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts with an impact factor of 270 and more than 4000 citations.

Prof Dr Faqir Mohammad’s field of research is nanomedicine. He founded the Nanomedicine Laboratory at University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. Besides this, he is working on the same project at Bahauddin Zakariya University.

Prof. Faqir Muhammad has participated in various seminars, conferences, and symposiums organized at national and international levels. On the other hand, he is a member of the editorial board and review committee of various national and international journals.

Supervision by Prof Faqir Muhammad

Prof. Faqir Muhammad is an approved supervisor of Higher Education Commission. 55 students at MPhil and 07 PhD students obtained their degrees under his supervision.

Patents of Prof Faqir Muhammad

He has obtained a patent on a novel process for the detection of sulfonamides in milk using nanotechnology. Moreover, he has also submitted a patent to IPO Pakistan through the financial assistance of the Higher Education Commission. Besides this, he also submitted patent research on a novel immune-stimulating product against salmonellosis in poultry under the financial support of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council PARC.
