Nutritional Value of Fish Meat

Along with pulses, vegetables, fruits, meat and eggs, fish is a food that meets the basic nutritional needs of the body. Fish meat is an excellent source of protein, vitamins, minerals and energy. If we talk about protein, fish and other marine life contain high-quality protein, due to which aspects such as amino acid structure as well as better digestibility of protein are found. That is, the protein provided by fish is better digested along with essential amino acids and becomes part of the body.

Nutritional Value of Fish Meat and Health Effects

Being a low fat diet, fish leads to a reduction in blood pressure and heart diseases. The Omega 3 fatty acids present in it keep the heart and brain healthy. Fish meat is also an excellent source of minerals and vitamins. Fish Meat Consumption in Pakistan

Fish is consumed traditionally in Pakistan. We have fish in the sea as well as in fresh water. With the increasing population, the world is not only facing food shortages, but food quality is also a big problem. Quality food is not only a guarantee of good health, but it is also related to the overall prosperity and mental and physical capacity of future generations. This is why a large number of such classes are also suffering from malnutrition who do not face problems like food shortage and poverty. The main reason for this is the lack of natural nutrients in it along with the substandard food.

Importance of Natural Food

On the other hand, our rapidly changing lifestyle and changing eating habits also give rise to nutritional problems. Although modern factory-made and synthetic food items have a pleasant taste and color as well as a sense of innovation, due to the absence of natural nutrients, they are unable to support the human body in the way that natural food products benefit. This is why sometimes our eating habits cause harm to our health and give rise to many diseases that are not diagnosed in time and then come out in a complex form.

Importance of Fish Meat in Pakistan

Pakistan is also one of those countries where not only malnutrition is faced, but food shortage due to poverty is also a big problem. Along with this, the dangerous aspect is that our children are victims of Stunting Growth and there is no distinction between rich and poor. In such a situation, it is important that we do not only focus on food supply but also take the quality of food and the nutrition obtained from it seriously so that an awareness campaign can be launched regarding the physical importance of the food consumed so that people can consume it more and more. This will increase the demand for fish at the local level and people will focus more on its farming. By focusing on this sector, not only quality food can be provided but also new investment opportunities can be opened up.

Aquaculture and Economic Opportunities

Furthermore, fish farming is also done as a business. Methods like shrimp farming, trout farming, cage farming and deep sea farming are also being adopted in fish farming. Although the share of the fisheries sector in Pakistan’s gross domestic product is very small, there is export potential in this sector.

Pakistan ranks 28th in the world in the fisheries sector, while our name is 50th in the list of exporters. Unfortunately, fish production in Pakistan has been declining every year over the past few years. This is due to water pollution, overfishing and other water problems, among other aspects. Although fish is eaten with great enthusiasm in Pakistan and its consumption increases in winter, its consumption is still relatively low. For this, it is necessary to run an awareness campaign regarding the nutritional importance of fish.

Suggestions for the Fisheries Sector

Pakistan has potential in fish farming as well as its export. Facilities should be provided to fishermen working in the sea and other people associated with this sector. Along with this, the government should encourage investment in this sector. Local investors should have access to the global market and arrangements should be made at the local level according to international standards so that we can market our natural assets in a better way in the world. More value addition and processing opportunities can be created in this.
