Workshop on National Herd Transformation organized by CEBG Renal
CEBG Renala of RVFC organized a workshop on National Herd Transformation. Center of Excellence for Bovine Genetics, Okara invited different stakeholders. Besides professionals from the government sector and private sector, corporate farmers and livestock breeders also joined the workshop. Stakeholders discussed the comprehensive strategy for National Herd Tranformation. Moreover, the Officers of RVFC highlighted the role of the Center of Excellence for Bovine Genetics in herd transformation.
Commandant CEBG Renala Brig Mohammad Ali Raza, Commandant Military Farm Group Okara Brigadier Abdul Basit, Col Zakir Hussain, and other officers discussed different aspects.

Discussion at National Herd Transformation Workshop
Brig Abdul Basit explained the Grass Root Incentivized Dairy Development (GRIDD) model. On the other hand, Dr. Zafar expressed his views on adopting a comprehensive nutrition plan as a business model for animal production. He further highlighted the importance of environmentally friendly housing. Dr. Faisal guided the model of livestock growth while keeping the environment sustainable. Dr. Umer discussed the importance of dairy development and extension services in Cholistan. Furthermore, Dr. Ajmal discussed types of breeding index indicators.
During the workshop, Sardar Fahad Qayyum highlighted the importance of data recording and explained the difficulties in importing advanced genetics into Pakistan. On the other hand, Buffalo breeder Irfan Gujjar explained the importance of indigenous breeds. Breeder Mudassar talked about breed selection according to his environment in Pakistan.

Speaking at the workshop, the Director Breed Improvement Livestock Department Punjab Dr. Rana Abdul Rauf highlighted the importance of genome testing and progeny testing.
At the end of the event, Commandant CEBG Brigadier Muhammad Ali Raza spoke about creating disease-free zones in Pakistan. He also highlighted the importance of new breeds with high genetic potential imported from Brazil. He further thanked all the participants for participating in the workshop.
