Workshop on Innovative Livestock Communication and Livestock Media Management held at Quatta

A three-day training workshop on “Innovative Communication and Media Management in the Livestock Sector” was organized in Quatte. This was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization FAO Balochistan under the European Union Funding. The purpose of the Workshop on Livestock Communication and Livestock Media Management was to develop livestock extension services in Balochistan on modern lines. More than thirty officers from the Livestock Department and other institutions participated in the workshop.

FAO Balochistan strengthening the Livestock Department

Waleed Mehdi, International Program Coordinator of FAO Balochistan, appreciated the team for organizing the workshop. He said that such workshops are of great importance for the capacity building of the officers of the Livestock Department. FAO Balochistan will continue to support the Livestock Department of Balochistan to increase the professional capacity of the officers. We are also working on the livestock value chain along with the conservation of water resources in Balochistan.

Workshop on Innovative Livestock Extension Services by FAO Balochistan 

Dr. Muhammad Azam Kakar said on this occasion that this workshop has been organized under the FAO program “Revival of Balochistan Water Resources Programme (RBWRP)”. He stressed that the Livestock Department should further activate its communication department. Through this training workshop, the officers of the Livestock Department can better guide the farmers by using digital media and modern communication tools and highlight the activities of the department at the national and provincial levels.

Importance of Livestock Communication and Livestock Media Management

Asad Ali, Communication Officer of FAO Balochistan, said that in this era of rapid access to information, it is very important for government officers to be aware of modern media and communication tools. The workshop discussed all the topics of digital media as well as traditional media management. Furthermore, the use of artificial intelligence in the livestock sector has also been highlighted. The participants expressed deep interest in the three days of the workshop and actively participated in the practical activities of the workshop.

Director General Livestock Balochistan Dr. Farooq Tareen thanked FAO Balochistan for organizing the workshop. He emphasized that the officers should fully benefit from the skills learned in the workshop. He said that thanks to this workshop, the Livestock Department will get an opportunity to highlight its activities effectively.

Discussion at Livestock Communication Workshop

During the workshop, Veterinary Journalist and Analyst Dr. Jasir Aftab and FO Communication Officer Asad Ali shed detailed light on various topics. The workshop provided training on better use of different digital media platforms, different methods of communication, content writing, blogging, graphic designing, livestock media management, crisis communication, web designing, digital advertising, video editing, and search engine optimization (SEO) as well as the use of artificial intelligence.

At the end of the workshop, the participants described the training as very useful, practical, and in line with the requirements of the present era. They further expressed their determination that they would use these skills for the improvement of livestock extension in the field.
