Recently, I read Dr. Jawad Ahmad’s status, and I was happy—very happy. The gentleman needed doctors and web designers for his institution. It’s no big deal that institutions need people. But the big deal here is that he is young, and he became a gentleman. He became a veterinarian and then instead of getting excited about a government job, he thought of doing something different.
Dr. Jawad Ahmad’s Journey from Veterinarian to Entrepreneur
He was interested in dogs and cats, but instead of setting up a clinic, he decided to excel in this field. Then, following the formula of value addition, he set out on the path of mastering information technology and went far in web designing.
A new idea came to him—the idea of creating an online pet store by combining veterinary sciences and information technology. A store where cat and dog owners can buy necessary items for their loved ones while sitting at home and then this website company can also provide them with home delivery service.
The Business Incubation Center of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences cooperated in the implementation of this idea, and Dr. Waseem Shaukat was the in-charge of this institution at that time. With the guidance of capable people beyond prejudice and the personal efforts of Dr. Waseem Shaukat, this idea of Dr. Jawad turned into a reality and today he is successfully running Pakistan’s first online pets store www.petsone.pk.
Dr. Zia Mohiuddin’s Remarkable Achievement
Another great achievement is that of Dr. Zia Mohiuddin, a young veterinarian from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, who decided to show the essence of his abilities in the practical field and decided to become a surgeon. Not just a surgeon, but he planned to do something in animal surgery that had not been done anywhere, which no one had done. Then he distinguished himself by performing laparoscopy in animals.
Understanding Laparoscopy in Veterinary Medicine
Endoscopy is the examination of internal organs by inserting a special camera inside the body. This technology is used in the diagnosis of diseases and minimally invasive surgery. Its use in different parts of the body also changes its terminology, such as endoscopy of joints is called arthroscopy, its use for internal organs of the chest is called thoracoscopy, while internal examination of the abdomen is called laparoscopy.
Laparoscopy is a technology in which a camera is inserted into the abdomen by making a hole as needed with minimal disruption. Then with the help of this camera, the internal organs of the body are examined and other specific tools are taken into the body through the holes and surgery is performed. This technology is used in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases, such as removing the appendix or ovaries from the body, etc. It is common in humans but not in animals in Pakistan.
The Struggle to Learn a New Technology
Dr. Zia started this journey. He collected some money from his practice, borrowed some money from his family and went in search. He requested to learn the technology from some surgeons in Faisalabad but was refused. One allowed it but the demand was so high that it was not possible. Finally, after many attempts, a gentleman allowed him to stand as an observer during laparoscopy. This was a significant opportunity.
Dr. Zia understood this task through his observation, research and study. In practice, when the time came to start the work, there were no equipment; if there was, there was no one to operate it. Well, he started the work by cleaning some of the dusty equipment in the institution and renting some equipment.
Mentorship and Determination Led to Success
Difficulties arose, obstacles were also put up by the elders, discouragement was also felt, but the full cooperation and inner passion of Professor Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, Dr. Asad Manzoor, Dr. Misbah Ijaz and a few other teachers of this institution made him successful.
All this Dr. Zia did a year after his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Today, Dr. Zia is offering his services as a successful veterinary surgeon in Faisalabad and its surroundings. A veterinary surgeon who is also proficient in technology like laparoscopy and is now emerging as a veterinary surgeon at the national level.
Recognition Is Well Deserved
The relevant institutions of the livestock sector, especially the Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab, should recommend a national award for Dr. Zia. Along with this, the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore, as the first veterinary university in Pakistan, should award him a gold medal in its convocation.
The institution where this feat was accomplished should also announce a gold medal—both the faculty gold medal and the university gold medal—proudly honoring this young man.
A Vision for the Future
Dr. Zia plans to build an international standard hospital in Pakistan for horse surgery in the future. This is the idea of crores.
New TV should invite Dr. Zia to its program “Idea of Crores”, just like Dr. Jawad, and give him an opportunity to serve Pakistan.
Many More Success Stories Need a Platform
Similarly, there are many other stories and ideas in the veterinary profession that can be brought to the screen, such as the story of Dr. Sahar Aamir, who set up a pet clinic in Faisalabad with her own efforts and then ran it successfully; the ideas of Dr. Warda Gill, associated with the Punjab Wildlife Department; the achievements of Dr. Amara Fayyaz, a prominent young Pakistani expert in the horse sector working in the Emirates; and Dr. Malik Muhammad Ali, a young international dairy marketing expert.
“Ideas of Crores” can prove to be an excellent platform to bring this talent before the nation.

ایک اور بڑا کارنامہ زرعی یونیورسٹی فیصل آباد کے نوجوان ویٹرنری ڈاکٹر ضیاء محی الدین کا ہے جنہوں نے عملی میدان میں اپنی قابلیت کے جوہردیکھانے کا فیصلہ کرتے ہوئے سرجن بننے کی ٹھان لی۔ صرف سرجن نہیں بلکہ جانوروں کی سرجری میں کچھ ایسا کرنے کا ارادہ کیا جو کہیں نہ ہواہو ، جو کسی نے نہ کیا ہو۔ پھر جانوروں میں لیپروسکوپی کرکے ممتاز ہو گئے ۔
ایک مخصوص کیمرے کو جسم کے اندر داخل کر کے اندرونی اعضاء کا معائنہ اینڈو سکوپی ہے۔ اس ٹیکنالوجی کو بیماریوں کی تشخیص اور کم سے کم چیر والی سرجری میں استعمال کیا جاتا ہے۔ جسم کے مختلف حصوں میں اس کے استعمال سے اس کی اصطلاح بھی بدل جاتی ہے، جیسے جوڑوں کی اینڈوسکوپی کو آرتھروسکوپی، سینے کے اندرونی اعضاء کے لئے اس کے استعمال کو تھوریکوسکوپی جبکہ پیٹ کے اندرونی معائنے کو لیپروسکوپی کہہ دیتے ہیں۔ لیپرو سکوپی ایسی ٹیکنالوجی ہے جس میں چیڑپھاڑ کم سے کم کرتے ہوئے پیٹ میں ضرورت کے مطابق سوراخ کرکے ایک کیمرا داخل کر دیا جاتا ہے۔ پھر اسی کیمرے کی مدد سے جسم کے اندرونی اعضاء کا معائنہ کیا جاتا ہے اور انہیں سوراخوں سے دیگر مخصوص اوزاروں کو جسم میں لے جاکر سرجری کر لی جاتی ہے۔ بہت سی بیماریوں کی تشخیص اور علاج میں اس ٹیکنالوجی سے فائدہ اٹھایا جاتا ہے جیسے جسم سے اپینڈکس یا اووریز کو نکالنا وغیرہ۔ انسانوں میں تو عام ہے مگر پاکستان کے جانوروں میں نہیں۔
ڈاکٹر ضیاء نے اپنے اس سفر کا آغاز کردیا۔ اپنی پریکٹس سے کچھ رقم جمع کی ، کچھ فیملی سے پیسے ادھار لئے اور تلاش میں نکل گئے۔ فیصل آباد کے کچھ سرجن سے ٹیکنالوجی سیکھنے کی درخواست کی مگر انکار ہوا۔ ایک نے اجازت دی مگر ڈیمانڈ اتنی بھاری رقم کی کہ ممکن نہ تھا۔ آخر بہت سے کوششوں کے بعد ایک صاحب نے لیپروسکوپی کے دوران بطور Observer کھڑے ہونے کی اجازت دے دی۔ یہ تھا اہم موقع ۔۔ بس ڈاکٹر ضیاء نے اپنی observation، ریسرچ اور سٹڈی کے ذریعے یہ کام سمجھ لیا۔ عملی طور پر جب کام شروع کرنے کا وقت آیاتو آلات نہیں تھے، اگر تھے تو انہیں چلانے والا کوئی نہیں۔خیر ادارے میں موجود کچھ گرد آلود آلات کو صاف کرکے اور کچھ آلات کرائے پر لے کر کام شروع کر دیا۔
مشکلات پیش آئیں، بڑوں کی جانب سے رکاوٹیں بھی ڈالی گئیں، حوصلہ شکنی بھی ہوئی مگر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ظفر اقبال قریشی، ڈاکٹر اسعد منظور، ڈاکٹر مصباح اعجاز اور اس ادارے کے چند دیگر اساتذہ کی جانب سے مکمل تعاون اور اندر کے جنون نے انہیں کامیاب کیا۔ یہ سب کچھ ڈاکٹر ضیاء نے اپنی ڈاکٹر آف ویٹرنری میڈیسن کی ڈگری کے ایک سال بعد کیا۔ آج ڈاکٹر ضیاء فیصل آباد اور گردو نواح میں ایک کامیاب ویٹرنری سرجن کی حیثیت سے اپنی خدمات پیش کر رہے ہیں۔ ایک ایسا ویٹرنری سرجن جسے لیپرو سکوپی جیسی ٹیکنالاجی پر بھی عبور ہو اور اب وہ قومی سطح پر بطور ویٹرنری سرجن ابھر رہا ہے۔
لائیوسٹاک سیکٹر کے متعلقہ اداروں خصوصاََ محکمہ لائیوسٹاک اینڈ ڈیری ڈیویلپمنٹ پنجاب کو ڈاکٹر ضیاء کے لئے کسی نیشنل ایوارڈ کی سفارش کرنی چاہئے۔ اس کے ساتھ ساتھ پاکستان کی پہلی ویٹرنری یونیورسٹی کی حیثیت سے یونیورسٹی آف ویٹرنری اینڈ اینیمل سائنسز لاہور کواپنے کانووکیشن میں انہیں گولڈ میڈل پہنانا چاہئے ۔ جس ادارے میں یہ کارنامہ سرانجام دیا گیاوہاں بھی اس نوجوان پر فخر کرتے ہوئے گولڈ میڈل کا اعلان ہونا چاہئے ، فیکلٹی گولڈ میڈل اور یونیورسٹی گولڈ میڈل دونوں ۔
ڈاکٹرضیاء مستقبل میں گھوڑوں کی سرجری کے لئے پاکستان میں انٹرنیشنل سٹینڈرڈ کا ہسپتال بنانے کا ارادہ رکھتے ہیں۔ یہ ہے آئیڈیا کروڑوں کا۔ نیو ٹی وی کو چاہئے کہ ڈاکٹر جواد کی طرح ڈاکٹر ضیاء کو بھی اپنے پروگرام ” آئیڈیا کروڑوں کا ” میں بلائیں اور اسے پاکستان کی خدمت کرنے کا موقع فراہم کرے۔ اسی طرح ویٹرنری پروفیشن میں اور بہت سی ایسی کہانیاں اورایسے آئیڈیاز ہیں جنہیں سکرین پر لایا جا سکتا ہے جیسے فیصل آباد میں اپنے مد د آپ کے تحت پیٹس کلینک بنانے اور پھر اسے کامیابی سے چلانے والی ڈاکٹر سحر عامر کی کہانی ، پنجاب وائلڈ لائف ڈیپارٹمنٹ سے منسلک ڈاکٹر وردا گِل کے آئیڈیاز ،امارات میں کام کرنے والی گھوڑوں کے شعبے کی ممتاز نوجوان پاکستانی ایکسپرٹ ڈاکٹر عمارا فیاض اور نوجوان انٹرنیشنل ڈیری مارکیٹنگ ایکسپرٹ ڈاکٹر ملک محمد علی کی کہانیاں وغیرہ۔ اس ٹیلنٹ کو قوم کے سامنے لانے میں ” آئیڈیاز کروڑوں کا”ایک بہترین پلیٹ فارم ثابت ہو سکتا ہے۔
