History of International Women Day

Although International Women’s day formally started in 1911 but its history is long way. It linked back to the Industrialized world where voices were raised for women rights. Furthermore, In 1908, 15000 women marched for better pay, shorter hours, and voter rights. On the other hand, in 1909, the US observed the first National Women Day.

Clara Zetkin presented the idea of International Women’s Day at an International Conference of Working Women in 110. In 1911, it was observed on March 19 in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland.

In 1914, Russian Women observed this day in a campaign for peace regarding World War 1. This year, it was also decided to select the Date of March 08 for this day.
