
Horse and Cattle Show 2025 – Special Report
The Horse and Cattle Show 2025 was organized as a special initiative of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. The sixteen-day activities of Mela Maweshian 2025 continued in full swing in Lahore. Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. Chief of Army Staff Gen Syed Asim Munir attended the closing ceremony. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz appreciated the organizers for successfully organizing the Horse and Cattle Show. Senior Minister Maryam Aurengzeb supervised the arrangements of this event. The Livestock Department also organized Livestock Show and Livestock Competitions.
Activities of Horse and Cattle Show 2025
The activities of the Mela Maweshian 2025 continued in Lahore for sixteen days. The main event was organized at the Fortress Stadium. Tent Pegging, dog show, flower exhibition, music festival, children’s festival, old car exhibition, and other activities were organized. International teams also participated in the tent pegging competitions. A food festival was also organized along with the Sufi festival. Furthermore, a special circus continued in Bagh-e-Jinnah. On the occasion, various roads of Lahore were decorated with electric lights and models.
Livestock Department at Horse and Cattle Show 2025
The Livestock Department Punjab participated in the Mela Maweshian 2025. The Livestock Department organized an animal Cavalcade in which breeds of cows, buffaloes, as well as sheep, and goats were presented. Camel show and camel dance were also presented on this occasion. The Livestock Department also organized milk and beauty competitions between cows and buffaloes.

Livestock Competitions
A special ceremony was held to distribute prizes to the winning farmers and breeders in the Horse and Cattle Show. Parliamentary Secretary for Livestock Sardar Asim Sher Maken attended the ceremony as the special guest along with Secretary Livestock Saqib Ali Ateel. A large number of representatives of breeder associations also attended the ceremony.
The Parliamentary Secretary congratulated Secretary Livestock Saqib Ali Ateel for setting a world record in the buffalo milk competition and appreciated his efforts for the livestock sector. Such competitions create positive impacts in society and keep the dedication of people to work harder alive.
On this occasion, Secretary Livestock Saqib Ali Ateel said that such competitions instill a passion in breeders to work harder on animals and prizes encourage breeders. He further said that under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Livestock Department is providing all possible facilities to livestock farmers. The ceremony was attended by the Director Generals, Additional Secretary Technical, Director of Planning, Director of Communication, Director of Lahore Division, and other officers also attended the ceremony.
Results of the Livestock Competitions
Nili Ravi buffaloes, Sahiwal cows and Cholistani cows participated in the milk competition. A tough competition was witnessed among 68 Sahiwal and Cholistani cows, including about 66 buffaloes from across the province.
Detailed Results of Livestock Competition
Sardar Yousaf Dogar’s buffalo set a world record by giving 52.235 kg of milk. Cholistani cows also did not lag behind anyone in the competition and Ali Sher Kabutri cow of Bahawalnagar district won the first position by giving 35.44 kg of milk. In the Sahiwal cow milk competition, Yahya Shakir’s Shahzadi cow of Jhang won the competition by giving 36.74 kg of milk. In this ceremony, all the position holders were given Azadi Shield along with prize money by the Secretary Livestock.
