Horse and Cattle Show 2025 is to be started on February 9 in Lahore

With the slogan of unity, progress, and restoration of culture, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz decided to organize the Horse and Cattle Show 2025 after thirty years in its original form. Seventy international organizations are participating in the historical and traditional livestock fair. The History of Horse and Cattle Show links back to decades.

The Horse and Cattle Show 2025 activities will continue from February 9 to 23 at different locations in Lahore. The opening ceremony will be held at the Fortress Stadium on February 9. A Livestock Cavalcade will also be organized on this occasion.

The Horse and Cattle Show will feature spear fighting, archery, Buzkashi, and polo competitions. Cultural shows, flower exhibitions, food festivals, Sufi Festival, and other events will also be organized. Children’s fairs, circuses, bicycle races, vintage car shows, and other activities will also be organized. More livestock exhibitions, milk competitions, livestock beauty competitions, and dog shows will also be part of the Show.

History of Horse and Cattle Show

The Horse and Cattle Show was started in 1964. The livestock fair was held in 1979, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1994 and 1995. This fair with the Fortress Stadium Lahore has acquired historical importance and has gained international fame. The Horse and Cattle Show was also organized in 2004. After this, the Punjab government organized this fair after eleven years in 2015. In 2022, a large-scale Horse and Cattle Show was organized with complete arrangements. Under the special initiative of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, this year the Punjab government is going to restore this historical fair in its original form after thirty years. Seventy international teams will also participate in this show.

Activities of Horse and Cattle Show 2025

Various activities are being organized in different parts of Lahore from February 9 to 23 on the occasion of the Livestock and Horse Fair. Canal Road, Mall Road, Jail Road, Main Boulevard and adjoining roads have been decorated with electric lights and cultural models in a special way. Various cultural and decorative activities will continue on Mall Road, Main Boulevard, and Gulberg till February 20. A German Shepherd Dog Show will be held at Jilani Park on February 8-9, while all Breed Dog Show will be held on February 16.

Tent Pegging and archery competitions will be held at Fortress Stadium and BPTG from February 10-12. Buzkashi on February 15 and Shandur Polo competitions will be held at Fortress Stadium Lahore on February 16. Punjab Cultural Night will be organized on February 11 at Fortress Stadium and Gilgit-Baltistan Cultural Night on February 14. Sufi Night will be organized at Hazuri Bagh on February 19. A flower exhibition will be held at Jilani Park from February 12-22, while a music and food festival will be organized from February 14-17. A special fair for children, including a circus, will be organized at Bagh e Jinnah from February 13 to 23.

A cycle race will be held from Main Boulevard Gulberg to Bagh Jinnah on February 16, while a rare car exhibition will be organized on Main Boulevard, Hussain Chowk, Jail Road on February 22. Rustom Punjab Dangal Kabaddi competitions will be held at Minar Pakistan on February 18-19. The closing ceremony will be held at Minar Pakistan on February 23.

Livestock Competitions at Horse and Cattle Show 2025

Milk production and competitions in livestock will also be organized on the occasion of the Horse and Cattle Show. These competitions will continue at Bahadur Nagar Farm, Okara from February 18 to 20. Milk production competitions will be organized in cows and buffaloes on February 18 and 19. Beauty competitions of different breeds of sheep and goats will be held on February 18. Beauty competitions of Sahiwal and Cholistani and Nili Ravi Heifers will be organized on February 19. On February 20, along with breeding bulls, beauty contests for Nili Ravi Milking buffalo and Sahiwal and Cholistani cows will be held. The winning farmers and breeders will be awarded prizes at the Fortress Stadium, Lahore on February 21.

Arrangement of the Show

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Livestock and Dairy Development Department, Local Government and Community Development Department, and other agencies have been busy preparing for the Horse and Cattle Show for the past four months. Secretary Livestock Saqib Ali Ateel visited Bahadur Nagar Farm and reviewed the arrangements. Dr. Sajjad Hussain and Dr. Usman Tahir also accompanied him. Dr. Abdul Manan and Dr. Azfar Hussain gave a briefing on the arrangements.
