PARAG organized the first Pakistan Farm Animal Welfare Summit 2025
The first Pakistan Farm Animal Welfare Summit 2025 was organized in Lahore by the Pakistan Animal Rights Advocacy Group – PARAG. The event was attended by policy makers, legal experts, educationists, religious scholars, researchers, veterinary professionals, animal rights activists, and farmers as well as industry representatives. Different aspects fo the welfare of farm animals and welfare in poultry farming were discussed.
The chief guest of the event was the Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission, Professor Dr. Iqrar Ahmed Khan. Addressing the event, he appreciated the organizers for highlighting the issue of farm animal welfare in Pakistan. He said that taking care of animal rights is our religious, moral, and social responsibility.
Objectives of Farm Animal Welfare Summit
Chairperson Pakistan Animal Rights Advocacy Group – PARAG Ayeza Haider discussed the objectives of organizing the summit. She said that this is not just a ceremony but the beginning of a movement in Pakistan. We will raise our voice for the welfare of farm animals at every forum. She said that we are not against the livestock industry nor do we want to harm it. Our aim is to bring all stakeholders together on one platform and seek opinions regarding the improvement of farm animal welfare. We want all animal rights to be taken care of in the livestock farming sector in Pakistan.
Chairperson PARAG added that we have to take step-by-step steps to implement the global guidelines for animal welfare in poultry farming. The opinions of consumers should also be included in this regard.
On this occasion, the importance of amendments to the laws regarding animal rights, according to the current era, new legislation, and the implementation of laws was also emphasized. The importance of halal certification and the implementation of Sharia principles in livestock farming and meat processing was also highlighted. Activities of Pakistan Animal Rights Advocacy Group – PARAG were also highlighted.
Speakers at the Summit
The speakers said that compassion and kindness towards animals is not only a moral but also a religious duty. Now is the time for us to move towards legal reforms, humane farming practices, and awareness.
