Dr. Alamdar Hussain Malik appointed as Advisor for UVAS Swat
Former Secretary/Registrar PVMC – Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council Dr. Alamdar Hussain Malik has joined the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Swat as an advisor. President PVMC and Vice Chancellor Veterinary University Swat Prof Dr. Shakibullah has specifically assigned this responsibility to Dr. Alamdar Hussain Malik to improve the quality of education at the university and complete all the necessary facilities at UVAS Swat.
Developments at UVAS Swat
Dr. Alamdar Hussain Malik (RVMP 001) says that he will play a full role in the construction and development of this first veterinary university of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the vision of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Shakibullah. Work has been started to fully activate the educational system in the university and provide all the facilities in this regard. Along with the appointment of faculty, special attention is being paid to the provision of necessary infrastructure and equipment for veterinary education.
The university will be equipped with all the facilities as per the requirements set by the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council. The number of faculty in each department will be met, while the construction of laboratories, farms, animals, clinics, and other infrastructure will be ensured for the practical training of students. He further said that the standards of Swat Veterinary University will be made in line with other veterinary universities in Pakistan so that its graduates can provide constructive services in every field.

Dr. Alamdar Hussain said that he has rendered historic services in the livestock sector and the veterinary education sector in Pakistan. Importantyly, he played an important role in the development and growth of the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council. He has the most important part of the high position that PVMC stands in Pakistan today.
Dr Alamdar said that he obtained DVM from the College of Veterinary Sciences, Lahore, and M.Sc from Royal Veterinary College London. With more than 30 years of experience, he has served in important positions in Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC), the Finance Division, USAID and UNDP, and the pharmaceutical industry. He was associated with several institutions as a consultant while also working for the federal government and provincial governments at the policy level.
Services for Veterinary Education and PVMC
He said that he also played an important role in the formulation of policy documents in the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council. He played an active and fundamental role as Secretary PVMC in the preparation and notification of Veterinary Education Standards, Accreditation Policy, Veterinary Conduct Rules, and other important documents. Moreover, he was also involved in the preparation and review of the five-year DVM curriculum in Pakistan. Furthermore, he was also active in implementing the five-year DVM degree in Pakistan and making PVMC registration mandatory for placement in various institutions.
Dr. Alamdar says that his historic services were also included in the construction of the PVMC Secretariat. He played a major role in expediting the process of acquiring a plot for the Secretariat as well as providing funds for the construction of the Secretariat.
Other Services of Dr. Alamdar Hussain Malik
He further said that he was a member of various committees of various veterinary educational institutions, including the Veterinary University Lahore and contributed to the development of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He also offered his services as a consultant in the construction and development of Lakki Marwat University. As a principal consultant to NUST and the Ministry of Science and Technology, he played a key role in formulating the National Healthcare Waste Management (HWM) guidelines and integrating them with the needs of the livestock sector. He also worked in the Finance Division and served in various institutions of the federal government.
Dr. Alamdar Hussain Malik says that the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences UVAS Swat will be made an exemplary institution of Pakistan. Very soon, all the requirements of PVMC and other institutions will be completed. He thanked the Vice Chancellor UVAS Swat, Prof. Dr. Shakibullah, for this responsibility.
