DG GCLI visited the DCFA Pakistan Office

Director General Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (DG GCLI) Major General (R) Shahid Mahmood visited the head office of the Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association Pakistan in Karachi. President DCFA Pakistan Shakir Umar Gujjar, along with Rafiq Khan and others, welcomed the GCLI delegation at the DCFA Pakistan Office in Karachi Bhens Colony. On this occasion, Shakir Umar Gujjar assured full support for the initiatives of the Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (GCLI).

Shakir Umar Gujjar said that illegal slaughtering must be stopped to save animal species. A large number of newborn calves and productive buffaloes are slaughtered for meat in Karachi Bhens Colony and other big cities. Urgent steps must be taken to save these animals. A business model must be created to save the calves and investors must be attracted in this direction.

He further said that steps must also be taken for the recycling of buffaloes. The government should allocate places around Karachi and provide opportunities for investors and farmers to recycle. Subsidies should be given through Pakistan Railways to return more buffaloes to different cities of Punjab and Sindh so that farmers can avoid transport costs. In this regard, an additional coach should be installed with each train for animals and facilities should be provided to farmers.

Shakir Umar Gujjar also demanded the de-capping of milk and meat prices. He further stressed the provision of vaccines to control foot-and-mouth and other diseases and the preparation of vaccines at the local level. Along with this, the project of making organic fertilizer from dung available in Karachi Buffalo Colony and other areas was also discussed. On this occasion, the activities of GCLI  – Green Corporate Livestock Initiative were also told.

Rabiul Islam, Hammad, Asad Mansoor Baghpati, Anis Gaddi, Haji Saleem, Ashraf Gujjar, Chaudhry Khalid and others were also present during the meeting.
