Milk powder import blamed to be the hurdle for the growth of Dairy industry. The lack of security by the government, non-payment of refunds and widespread dumping of expired imported dry milk have become an obstacle to the growth of the corporate dairy farming industry in the country.
Despite being the third largest country in the world with an annual production of 50 billion liters of milk and having the capacity to produce quality products, Pakistan has not yet been able to join the list of exporting countries of dairy products.
According to sources, despite the available opportunities for profitable investment in corporate dairy farming, no new corporate dairy farm has been established in the country for the last four years, although during the years 2007 to 2017, about 19 large-scale and exemplary corporate dairy farms were gradually established in the corporate dairy sector in Pakistan with an investment of Rs. 25 billion.
