Commitment of Collaboration Signed between UVAS Dairy Beef Project & LDDB
The Dairy Beef Project of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Livestock and Dairy Development Board, Ministry of National Food Security and Research. MOU of UVAS Dairy Beef Project is to improve the livelihood of smallholder farmers.
The MoU was signed by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, Professor Dr. Naseem Ahmed, and the Chief Executive Officer, Livestock and Dairy Development Board, Dr. Muhammad Fatehullah Khan. The online event was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Masood Rabbani, Dr. Rana Muhammad Ayub, Dr. Humaira Iqbal, Dr. Mohsin Kiani, Dr. Hassan Mahmood Warraich, David McGill and others.
The MoU aims to promote collaboration in farm advisory services for smallholder farmers by bridging the gap in farm production and dairy beef value chain for profitability. Under the agreement, the ability of small livestock farmers to raise cattle will be improved so that the livelihood of farming families can be improved by increasing meat production on the farm.
In the near future, both organizations will develop a joint strategy for the sustainable development of the livestock sector, especially the beef industry, and will also develop an entrepreneurship business model to increase dairy, meat production and promote market linkages.
Speaking at the event, Professor Dr. Naseem Ahmed said that the extension work related to this project and its achievements will be shared with the livestock farming community and university faculty members through mobile applications and other means so that maximum livestock farmers can benefit from it. Speaking at the event, Professor Chief Executive Officer Livestock Board Dr. Muhammad Fatehullah Khan said that the mutual cooperation agreement will prove to be very beneficial for both organizations, especially for improving the economy of the livestock farming community.
