Bovine Sexed Semen Production Project at CEBG

CEBG Renala of RVFC is starting a project on Bovine Sexed Semen Production in Pakistan. This will be the first project of cow sexed semen and buffalo sexed semen production in Pakistan. Furthermore, the Cattle Sexed Semen will be available to the farmers within next few months. Remount Veterinary Corps is establishing a special lab at Centre of Excellence in Bovine Genetics. This Centre of Remount Veterinary and Farms Corps is working on bovine genetics. On the other hand, the Centre is also producing bovine embryos.

Pakistan imports Sexed Semen for Cows and Buffalo which is highly costly. It is out of the range of common farmers. However, this new project of the Pakistan Army will support the farmers. Moreover, with this technology, farmer will be able to decide whether they requires a male calf or a female calf.

Besides research and development, this center of the Pakistan Army is also training the veterinary staff of livestock Departments in bovine genetics and embryo transfer technology.
