
Farmers Awareness Program organized at LSTC Shikhupura under GRIDD Project
Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (GCLI) and the Livestock Department Punjab, jointly organized an awareness program for farmers at the Livestock Services Training Center Sheikhupura (LSTC Sheikhupura). This activity was part of GCLI’s Grassroot Incentivized Dairy Development (GRIDD project).
Director Livestock of Green Corporate Livestock Initiative Col (R) Abdul Rehman Qureshi, Additional Director Livestock Dr. Alamdar Hussain Malhi, Dr. Maqsood of Nestle Pakistan, and others spoke at the event.
GRIDD Project and other Initiatives of GCLI
Col. (R) Abdul Rehman Qureshi said that the Green Corporate Livestock Initiative is taking various steps to strengthen small farmers. Under the Grassroot Incentivized Dairy Development GRIDD project, linkages are being promoted between farmers, milk collection institutions, and various business entities. Moreover, work is also being done on the awareness of farmers.
He further said that GCLI has started production of sexed semen for cattle and buffaloes in Pakistan. More work is also being done on embryo production. Along with this, semen of Brahman, Friesian, and other breeds is also being provided to the farmers at a discounted price.
Discussion of other Experts
Additional Director Livestock Dr. Alamdar Hussain Malhi told about the facilities provided by the Livestock Department and the ongoing schemes. Dr. Maqsood highlighted the success of dairy farming and various aspects of animal care. Experts provided useful information to the farmers regarding better animal feed, vaccination, breeding, and better milk production. Farmers appreciated the organization of the event.
