Livestock Competition organized under Horse and Cattle Show

On the occasion of the Horse and Cattle Show 2025, the Livestock Competition was organized by the Livestock Department Punjab. This included milk production and beauty competitions including Buffalo Milk Competition, Cow Milk Competition, Buffalo Beauty Competition, and Cow Beauty Competition. This Buffalo and Cattle Competition Covered Nili Ravi Baffualo, Sahiwal Cow, and Cholistani Cow Breeds.

Member Provincial Assembly Chaudhry Ghulam Raza Rabira, Secretary Livestock Punjab Saqib Ali Ateel, Commissioner Sahiwal Shoaib Iqbal Syed, Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Usman Javed, and others participated in the livestock competition held at the Livestock Production Research Institute Bahadarnagar Okara. Deputy Secretary Dr Usman Tahir, Director General Livestock Research Dr. Sajjad Hussain, DG Livestock Extension Dr Muhammad Ashraf, Additional Director Livestock Okara Dr. Haq Nawaz Ali, and Farm Manager D.r Azfar Hussain, along with representatives of the Buffalo Breeders Association, farmers, and a large number of visitors also participated in the events.

 

Importance of Livestock Competition

On this occasion, Member of Provincial Assembly Ch Ghulam Raza Rabira said that the enthusiasm of the breeders participating in the competitions is truly remarkable. This activity has also provided the best opportunity for the public and fans to see beautiful animals. He said that the efforts of the Chief Minister of Punjab for the development and promotion of livestock are of utmost importance. A series of revolutionary measures are underway in the Livestock Department.

Secretary Livestock Saqib Ali Ateel said that livestock is a major pillar of the country’s economy, the Livestock Department is providing better employment opportunities to livestock farmers through additional production of milk and meat. The program of animal milk and beauty competitions is also an important link in this chain. Fairs and competitions create a passion for achieving better milk production among farmers. He said that the department is also working on the improvement of livestock breeds.

Commissioner Sahiwal Shoaib Iqbal Syed said that the Chief Minister of Punjab is focusing specifically on the improvement of the Livestock Department. The Secretary Livestock and the Institute administration deserve congratulations for organizing this wonderful program. He said that we have to work together for the betterment of animal husbandry.

Results of the Buffalo Milk Competition

In the buffalo milk competition, Haji Yousaf Dogar’s  Kamli buffalo stood first, setting a world record with a milk production of 52.235 kg. In second place was Ch Irfan Ali Tahir Gujjar’s Aswa Ladi buffalo with 47.980 kg. Haji Yousaf Dogar’s buffalo stood third with a milk production of 47.965 kg. In the first calver buffalo milk competition, Nazir Ahmed Gujjar’s Phoolan Jhoti came first with 35.400 kg of milk, Muhammad Usman Gujjar’s Heer Jhoti came second with 31.335 kg of milk, while Haji Ikram Ali’s Sukhiya Jhoti came third with 29.850 kg of milk.

Cow Milk Competition

In the Sahiwal cow milk competition, Muhammad Yahya Shakir’s Shahzadi cow won first place with 36.740 kg. Osama Rafiq’s cow came second with 34.235 kg of milk, while Rana Afzal Ahmed’s Silky Junior cow came third with 32.605 kg of milk.

In the first Calver Sahiwal Cow Milk Competition, the first position was won by Gulshan Vehri of Muhammad Abbas Khan with a milk production of 25.315 kg. The second and third positions were won by the heifers of Usama Rafiq of Sahiwal with milk production of 25.160 kg and 22.570 kg respectively.

In the Cholistani cow milk competition, Ali Sher’s Kabotri cow came first with 35.440 kg of milk, Muhammad Riaz’s Kunj cow came second with 31.725 kg, while Muhammad Javed’s Ranjhi cow came third with 29.110 kg of milk.

Buffalo Beauty Competition

In Nili Ravi Milking Buffalo Beauty Competition, Haji Yousuf Dogar came first, Irfan Ali Tahir came second, and Muhammad Tanveer’s buffalo came third. In the beauty contest of the Nili Ravi Buffalo breeding bull, the first position was won by Ghulam Rasool, the second by Haji Muhammad, and the third position was won by Arif Ali’s bull.

Cow Beauty Competition

In the Sahiwal Milking Cow Beauty Competition, the first prize was won by Rana Afzal’s cow, the second by Saeed Ahmed, and the third by Lal Khan. Moreover, in the beauty contest of the Sahiwal breeding bull, the first prize was won by Osama Rafiq, the second by Farrukh Fayyaz, and the third by Khan Muhammad’s bull. In the Cholistani milking cow beauty competition, the first prize was won by Muhammad Zaman, the second by Muhammad Sajid, and the third by Muhammad Bashir’s cow.

Furthermore, in the Cholistani breeding bull beauty contest, the first prize was won by Abu Bakr, the second by Muhammad Asif, and the third by Haris’ bull.

The Secretary of Livestock appreciated the efforts of the Breeders Association and congratulated the winning farmers and breeders.
