Awareness activity held in Khanewal regarding Brucellosis in animals. An awareness session on animal abortion was organized by the One Health Research Laboratory of the Veterinary Faculty of Bahauddin Zakaria University, Multan, in collaboration with the Livestock Department Punjab in Dera Wala, Mouza Hayatpur, Khanewal. This activity was organized under the project of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, whose main researcher is Associate Professor Dr. Mian Muhammad Owais of the Department of Pathobiology.
The aim of organizing the awareness session was to provide awareness to farmers about brucellosis (abortion). The important aspect of the spread of this disease from animals to humans was also highlighted in the event.
Dr. Mian Muhammad Owais and Dr. Abdul Samad Ali Khan Sherwani from the Department of Pathobiology attended the event, while Additional Director Livestock Khanewal Dr. Tahseen Ijaz and Veterinary Officer Dr. Mubashir Hassan from the Livestock and Dairy Development Department attended the event.
The event was about the causes, transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and other aspects of Brucellosis (abortion). Dr. Mian Muhammad Owais also shed light on the factors increasing the spread of this disease based on his research. He also informed about the University Diagnostic Laboratory of the faculty so that farmers can benefit from this facility –
Dr. Tehseen Ijaz appreciated the efforts of the BZU research team on this occasion and thanked them for organizing this activity. The faculty presented an honorary shield to Additional Director Livestock Khanewal Dr. Tehseen Ijaz for his research on Brucellosis, assistance in obtaining samples and organizing a successful Farmers Day.
A question and answer session was also held at the end of the event in which farmers got information about various issues related to their livestock from BZU experts.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Mian Muhammad Owais thanked the participants and assured them that Bahauddin Zakaria University stands by them for the improvement of livestock.
