Workshop on Green Synthesis of Nanomaterials held at IUB

A hands-on workshop on the topic of Green Synthesis of Nanomaterials was organized by the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Islamia University of Bahawalpur in collaboration with the Institute of Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics.

More than 100 experts and students, including faculty members from various departments of Veterinary University Lahore, Sadiq Women University Bahawalpur, Cholistan Veterinary University Bahawalpur, Khawaja Farid University Rahim Yar Khan and Islamia University Bahawalpur, participated in the workshop.

Professor Dr. Faqeer Muhammad, a renowned nanotechnologist from Pakistan with research experience at Kansas State University, USA and Chairman of the Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Bahauddin Zakaria University Multan, told the participants about his research on nanotechnology during the technical session. They are introducing a field-use antibiotic-residue kit based on nanomaterials. In the second session, moderated by Dr. Mosaddiq Idrees and Ms. Tooba Tariq, the participants were shown a practical demonstration of the synthesis of nanomaterials in the department’s postgraduate lab.

Dean Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Prof. Dr. Khalid Mansoor appreciated the efforts of the Physiology Department for organizing such an interactive and fruitful workshop. He thanked the Vice Chancellor for providing a conducive environment at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and promoting the organization of such a session.

At the end of the workshop, Chairman Physiology Department Prof. Dr. Umar Farooq stressed the importance of promoting technologies like nanomaterials in Pakistan. He thanked the members of the Physiology Students Club and his team members Dr. Ayesha Mahmood and Dr. Haroon Rashid for the successful organization of the workshop.

While appreciating the organization of the workshop, the participants said that they got the opportunity to understand nanomaterials in depth. He thanked the organizers.
