Prof. Dr. Saima honored to be the first female Dean at UVAS
Chancellor/Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman has appointed Prof. Dr. Saima, Chairperson, Department of Animal Nutrition, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, as Dean, Faculty of Animal Production and Technology for a period of three years. Professor Saima is the first woman Dean in the history of the Veterinary University. Vice Chancellor of the Veterinary University, Professor Dr. Naseem Ahmed, congratulated Professor Saima and appreciated her professional services in the field.

Prof. Dr. Saima Journey in Animal Nutrition
Professor Saima is the first female livestock professional in Pakistan to choose the Department of Animal Nutrition for the first time. She started her career at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad and joined the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore as an Assistant Professor in 2005.
Dr. Saima was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2015. She has achieved equal success in teaching and research. She was awarded the “Best Research” award in 2018. She has also been recognized by the Pakistan Poultry Association and other societies for her services by presenting her with awards several times.
Research Projects and Scientific Contributions of Prof. Dr. Saima
Prof. Dr. Saima has served as Principal Investigator in many projects of various funding agencies. She is working as a team member and co-principal investigator in various projects in the Veterinary University as well as other institutions. She also worked on a Rs 37.66 million project related to the estimation of antibiotics and steroidal hormones in chicken meat and eggs in Punjab. This is a very important project to remove misconceptions related to the consumption of chicken meat and eggs in Pakistan.
Academic Achievements and Publications
Prof. Saima has supervised more than 60 MPhil and 3 PhD students. She is also serving as a member of the supervisory committee of more than 40 postgraduate students. She has more than 80 research publications and 2 books to her credit. She is also a member of various associations and has made notable contributions in the field of poultry and livestock nutrition. She has been serving as the Secretary General of the Nutritionist Association of Pakistan since 2015.
