Animal nutrition lab and Veterinary Diagnostic Lab in Multan | FVS BZU Labs recognized as analyst institution by Punjab Government. Considering the research and diagnostic facilities available at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Bahauddin Zakaria University, Multan, the University Diagnostic Laboratory and the Semen Analysis and Cryopreservation Laboratory have been recognized by the Government of Punjab as analytical/diagnostic laboratories. This approval was given by the Standing Committee on Legislation of the Cabinet of the Government of Punjab in its 43rd meeting. Earlier, only the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore was recognized by the Breeding Services Authority in this regard.

Earlier, approval has also been given for the accreditation of the Diploma in Artificial Insemination in the Para Veterinary School of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences under the Livestock Breeding Act, 2014.
The Faculty of Veterinary Sciences is committed to providing veterinary services to animals and solving production problems. To achieve this goal, the University Diagnostic Laboratory and Semen Analysis and Cryopreservation Laboratory (USA&CL) equipped with modern equipment in the faculty are engaged in the best guidance of farmers.
The University Diagnostic Laboratory is providing many diagnostic facilities at very reasonable rates, which aim to enable timely diagnosis and treatment of various diseases so that disease prevention can be ensured.
Averroes Laboratories – Veterinary Diagnostic Lab for Poultry, Dairy, Aqua, Pets, Birds and Exotics
In the Semen Analysis and Cryopreservation Laboratory (USA&CL), animal semen is analyzed and research is done on its breeding so that the breeding of dairy animals is done according to modern requirements. In this laboratory, Dr. Ijaz Ahmed and Dr. Saleem Akhtar are conducting research on facilities like laparoscopy and ultrasound with the funding received from various funding agencies and are also providing facilities for related tests to the farmers.
In addition, this laboratory is equipped with Computer Based Semen Analyzer (CASA), modern microscope, cold handling unit (-196 degrees Celsius), laparoscope, ultrasound and other modern equipment through which pregnancy in the female, sperm motility in the semen, morphology and plasma membrane examination, including many reproductive diseases (brucellosis) and diseases that reduce the productivity of animals are included.

Continuing the process of education and teaching, the faculty is conducting a professional five-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, four-year B.Sc. Hons. Poultry Science and two-year Livestock Assistant Diploma programs. For better teaching and practical guidance of the students, modernly constructed and equipped with all basic facilities, analytical laboratories, analytical livestock and poultry farms and a university teaching hospital have been established. MPhil and PhD programs are also ongoing in the Pathology Department of the faculty.
Currently, the faculty members of the Department of Pathology including Dr. Masood Akhtar, Dr. Muhammad Irfan Anwar and Dr. Mian Muhammad Owais are engaged in research on various livestock diseases by obtaining research grants from various funding agencies including Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and Pakistan Agricultural Research Council. The focus of these projects includes animal reproductive diseases (brucellosis) and diseases that reduce animal productivity.
The approval of the University Diagnostic Laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan and USA&CL by the Government of Punjab is welcome and is a good step in the development of the faculty. It is hoped that the above initiative of the Government of Punjab will greatly benefit the farmers of South Punjab and will be able to further improve their role in the economic and economic development of the country by implementing the breeding, growth and slaughter of their animals on modern scientific grounds.
